Zero is excited to announce that it has secured its first municipal customer with the city of Los Altos Hills in California! Over the next six months, Zero will help the city take a meaningful step towards decarbonizing the 3,000 homes in the city by 2030 -- helping them to reach their goal of reducing the city's greenhouse gas pollution by 52% by 2030 – as part of its overall climate action plan. As part of this goal, it needs to replace the natural gas-powered heating, cooling, and hot water equipment in 2,800 homes with all-electric equipment.
As part of the agreement, Zero will be working with the city to provide homeowners with remote home assessments, developing a customized decarbonization plan for each home, and scoping specific projects for homeowners. Additionally, Zero will collect quotes for homeowners through our network of vetted local contractors to help accelerate and complete the necessary electrification work.
The Zero team is thrilled to be working with Los Altos Hills, in the heart of Silicon Valley, as its remote home assessment provider. Our net zero project guidance and quote collection services are a great match for climate-conscious cities seeking to tackle the difficult task of motivating homeowners to electrify and decarbonize their homes.
“Working with Los Altos Hills, right in the heart of Silicon Valley, is a really exciting opportunity for us,” said Grant Gunnison, Founder & CEO of Zero. “Cities like Los Altos Hills have climate action plans they’re working hard to make progress towards, but decarbonizing their city’s residences – which make up the majority of their carbon footprint as a community – is a big challenge. You have to make the process as easy as possible for homeowners, and we’re proud to demonstrate that our virtual assessments, decarbonization roadmap reports, and instant quotes do just that.”

For Los Altos Hills, the partnership offers the city an innovative opportunity to speed up the rate of home electrification that isn’t possible through traditional assessments and contractors.
Zero will begin its virtual home assessments in the fall of 2022, with the goal of assessing all 3,000 homes by 2030, and helping homeowners cut residential greenhouse gas emissions in half during that time.
